2022 Holiday Letter

Happy Holidays Alumni, Family, and Friends!

The water ski season has ended and the holiday season has officially begun. In addition to sending warm wishes, we would like to update you on the MSU water ski team’s 2022 skison. Thanks to our skiers and supporters, we were able to have yet another amazing year.

The Spartan spirit was strong at each tournament thanks to dock send-offs (and Sparta kicks), body paint, and megaphones. MSU Waterski kicked off the season with Michigan Waterski at Head to Head! We then competed in a total of five tournaments this season, starting in September and concluding in late October. At Allentucky in Conklin, Michigan we received 2nd overall. The following weekend, we headed to Forest Lake and hosted Ripfest. A record number of skiers attended, many skiers competed for the first time, and we placed 4th overall! In Van Wert, Ohio at the Great Lakes Conferences we slalomed, jumped, and tricked our way to 6th overall, advancing us to Midwest Regionals. We packed our skis in the trailer and traveled to Decatur, IL for Midwest Regionals. Thanks to Applebee’s and a lack of rain, we had many personal bests and placed 6th overall. The placement automatically qualified us for Nationals so we bought our flights and packed our cowboy hats for the San Marcos River Ranch. Our time in Texas ended with the MSU Waterski Team bringing home many memories, including a team overall finish of 2nd for Division II!

To make next skison better than ever we are in search of equipment (women’s comp vest & small gloves), docks & lifts gear, and in the starting phase of renovating our trailer. Any support in our trailer renovation and search for equipment would be appreciated. As the holiday season approaches, there’s no better time to say thank you. We greatly appreciate all the help and donations that allowed us to upgrade our boat this past skison! Words can’t express how much your ongoing support means to the team. Without your support we wouldn’t be able to compete in the sport we love. Donations allow us to purchase and maintain equipment. More importantly, donations allow for learning experiences and the opportunity to build lifelong friendships. If you would like to donate, please write checks out to “MSU Waterski Team” or venmo @msu-waterski.

The MSU Waterski Team cannot thank you enough for your ongoing support and encouragement. Please check out the team’s social media pages for pictures, tournament schedules, merchandise, and information on upcoming events. Also, below the letter are four QR codes: the alumni Facebook group, alumni involvement form, general involvement form, and GroupMe group chat for the parents of current skiers on the team. Once again thank you for your support this skison, we can’t wait to see you in 2023!

Warm Regards,

MSU Waterski Team
